Churros in Taichung Green Museumbrary by SANAA

PHAROS x KIMU

Inside the ethereal, white-on-white architecture of Kazuyo Sejima (SANAA), the Taichung Green Museumbrary exists as a vessel where light, air, and space flow without boundaries. Within the heart of this ”Museumbrary,“ Pharos Coffee presents a landscape of crystalline rationality, defined by the sharp edges of metal and glass. Our challenge was to introduce a human cadence—a sense of warmth—into this impeccably pure environment.

Moving away from conventional point-source lighting, we envisioned two sweeping horizontal arcs. These parallel arrays, stretching several meters, were designed to mirror and extend the building’s inherent fluid geometry. The rhythmic, delicate lines of the Churros Lamp carve gentle horizons into the airy, double-height space, providing a grounding visual anchor for the eye.

Suspended above the industrial weight of the metallic bar, these orderly rows of warm light breathe a poetic soul into the stark ”Sejima-white“ surroundings.
